July reflection + is it fall yet?

July was an activity-filled 31 days that passed entirely too quickly. We ushered in the month in Alaska and celebrated our nation’s birthday on the Pacific Ocean by way of a cruise ship. Throw in a camping trip, starting a new house/furniture project (we may be a bit in over our heads), meeting a few big goals (all 50 states visited + 2019 reading goal) while also still managing to have a bit of self-care and you can see why it went by in a flash.

Looking forward to August, which as always been my least favorite month after February as it’s basically just in the way of what’s to come — glorious autumn. Ahhhhh . . . I can already smell the nutmeg and hear the crunch of leaves beneath my feet and feel the welcomed crispness in the air. I can’t break out the sweaters soon enough! But, before I say goodbye to the summer of 2019, I’ll savor what the warmer months bring — one more camping trip, walking the neighborhood in flip flops, reading on the patio, fresh local product and, of course, the flowers and vibrant colors of the season. Hoping your last bits of summer are enjoyable!

“Stop walking through the world looking for confirmation that you don’t belong. You will always find it because you’ve made that your mission. Stop scouring people’s faces for evidence that you’re not enough. You will always find it because you’ve made that your goal. True belonging and self-worth are not goods; we don’t negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially your own. No one belongs here more than you.” ~Brene Brown, Braving the Wilderness
